A Day in the Life

img_0064-1.jpg While no two days will be exactly the same at QCSYS, you can expect to follow this general format:

7:30-8:30 Breakfast at REV
9:00-12:00 Morning lectures at IQC
12:00-13:00 Lunch at IQC
13:00-17:00 Afternoon lectures
17:30-18:30 Dinner at IQC
18:30-20:30 Planned activity/Extra-curricular
20:30-21:30 Free time

Attending Lectures

Researchers here at IQC will be teaching the students various aspects of quantum cryptography.
From some of the earliest methods of cryptology, to the strange and ‘spooky’ aspects of quantum
mechanics, you will be exposed to a wide array of the most interesting topics in quantum cryptography.

Visiting Local Institutions

Apart from being based at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), we will also
travel to the main University of Waterloo campus, as well as the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical
Physics
. This will ensure that students will be able to meet and chat with some of the world’s leading
researchers, not only in quantum cryptography but also in various other related fields.

Taking A Break

While students should enjoy the academic lectures, we realize that even the most dedicated
students need a break! With planned activities like go-carts, movies and a campfire, as well as numerous breaks
and snack times throughout the day, students should have ample opportunity to unwind before getting back
to academics.

Stretching Your Mind

Not only will students learn about advanced topics, but they will be given a chance to try their hand at solving
problems involving the very same principles — because there is no better way to learn about a topic than
to play around with a real life problem.
